Two things, mostly.

First, a long, consuming period of work — with heightened focus in a very demanding domain — that left no room for the other things we deemed important. We woke up one morning and realised that whole stretches of life had quietly happened around the edges, while we weren't looking.

Second, reading Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman. The book reminded us how brief a life actually is, and how easily — without paying attention — we can be sidetracked into living a different kind of life than the one we imagined.

Time does fly. And if we don't pay attention, we can get sidetracked into living a different kind of life than what we imagined.

A simple mirror

So we built My Lighthouse: a guide that shows us how we are, what's working and what's not. An impartial, sophisticated mirror that tells us when we're off course and reminds us where our base is.

It isn't a productivity app. It isn't a habit streak. It's a small, daily ritual — designed so that, over time, you build a more honest picture of yourself, and you notice drift early enough to do something about it.
